    The Memphis Piece, 2009
    University of Memphis, Memphis Tennessee

The Memphis piece was created over the course of a ten day residency at The University of Memphis. The piece is the third site-specific installation in a marathon series of work as part of the “Have Sticks Will Travel World Tour”. The Memphis piece is a hybrid image of the forms and discoveries found in the city gallery piece and the Norman Piece. Unlike the city gallery or Norman piece, verticality was not an issue so no guide wires were used to hoist the piece in place. The Memphis piece gave me an opportunity to fuse the fluid playful curves i found in the city gallery piece with the discovery of the intersecting planes that emerged in the creation of the Norman Piece. As with all the work in this series all decisions and form generation were done entirely in situ.
